Brian’s career as a writer

Brian is an aspiring, jaded writer. He is unemployed but has been writing various novels, screenplays and essays since college. His writing career is difficult and is related to his lack of talent. Once he wins a prize with an essay, but later it turns out that he plagiarised the piece.

When he publishes his novel «Faster Than the Speed», it is slammed by critics and he does not sell a single copy. Later, he writes a television script called «What I Learned on Jefferson Street», which is picked up by a television station. Although the script is good, the final product is poor. Brian doesn’t give up and in a few hours writes a self-help book called «Wish It, Want It, Do It», it consists mainly of blank pages. The book is an instant success, but Brian lets the fame go to his head and eventually causes the downfall of his book’s popularity.

Brian’s last literary attempt takes place in the episode «Brian’s Play», where Brian writes a play called «A Passing Fancy». The play becomes very popular in Quahog; however, Brian is upset when he discovers that Stewie had written a play in the meantime that is better than his. When Stewie’s play is shown on Broadway, Brian is left depressed.
